Host father convicted of sex abuse
Crime

A Lane County jury convicted Junction City resident James McClintock of four counts of sex abuse and one count of private indecency.  McClintock was found not guilty of one count of sex abuse.

A 17-year-old foreign exchange student accused McClintock of touching her inappropriately and exposing himself to her while she lived with his family last fall.

The jury reached their verdicts on Friday after starting deliberations Thursday afternoon.

In his testimony at trial, McClintock vigorously denied the charges.  He said he only touched the teenager to rub out muscle cramps at her request and to give encouraging shoulder rubs while she worked out in a weight room under his supervision.

The girl and another female exchange student who was living with the McClintocks were moved to another host family out of state.

McClintock will be sentenced at a future date.  All the charges are misdemeanors.

KVAL News called his attorney, Shaun McCrea, to ask if they planned to appeal.  Our call has not yet been returned.
