Storefront art now in Junction City

From a press release:

Eugene Storefront Art Project, (E.S.A.P.), will be installing art into a vacant building in downtown Junction City tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at 187 6th Ave. "This is our first installation outside of Eugene and we are really excited to be expanding the idea of making vacant properties more visible while adding color to the downtown area", states one of the founding members of E.S.A.P., Paula Goodbar.

The artwork will be visible during the popular Scandinavian Festival and will definitely be good exposure for local Junction City Artist, Sandra Kay Bulley. E.S.A.P. hopes that the art in this one location will inspire other property owners to participate in bringing art to empty spaces, as well as inspiring other Junction City artists to be included in upcoming storefronts.

Founding members, Marc Gunther, Paula Goodbar and Peter Herley have been on a mission to help revive an ailing Eugene downtown area through the use of art in vacant storefront windows as well as working with business owners wanting to add more interest for their occupied properties since March of this year. They have completed 12 installations, placed more than 100 pieces of art and worked with more than 25 artists. "We want people to be walking around downtown and feel like there is something positive happening down here. By having art to look at instead of a vacant building brings hope and a smile instead of worrying about another business disappearing, This is what we want to share with Junction City.", stated Paula Goodbar.

E.S.A.P. is a group of concerned, volunteer citizens that want to contribute to helping downtown Eugene. Springfield and Junction City become vibrant, colorful and unique points of destination for the arts and entertainment and feel that immediacy in putting ideas into action is vital to help support the local downtown businesses that are suffering the consequences of abandoned, vacant or neglected buildings. "We want business owners to know that we are here to help by cleaning up the spaces, finding the art and artists, doing the installations, whatever we can do to help them participate and create more colorful downtowns. Please call Paula Goodbar at 541-520-8855 for more info.
